On November 16, the Evangelical Medical Association of Korea (EMAK) held a regular seminar at Dongmyeong Church in Gwangju, addressing the topic “Anti-Biblical Values and the Crisis of Low Birth Rates.” The event featured a thought-provoking lecture by Professor Hyun Sook Kyung from Korea Baptist Theological University.
During her lecture, Professor Hyun delved into the pervasive spread of anti-Christian ideologies—including atheistic evolutionism, eugenics, abortion, feminism, homosexuality, communism, and postmodernism—and their impact on the ongoing low birth rate crisis. She also shed light on how organizations such as the Planned Parenthood Federation and UN-affiliated agencies subtly advance these anti-biblical values. Professor Hyun emphasized the need for Christians to recognize these influences and take a stand against them.
The seminar was well-received by attendees, including pastors from Gwangju, who praised its depth and relevance. Many requested follow-up lectures to further explore these pressing issues. They also expressed their gratitude to EMAK for organizing such a meaningful and timely event.
The seminar additionally served as an opportunity for the Saint Luke Society (SLS) to strengthen its presence in Gwangju. Dr. Shin Myeongseop, SLS Korea Representative, shared, “While we faced some opposition during the seminar’s preparation, it ultimately became a significant opportunity for SLS to expand our network. We look forward to collaborating further with Christian medical professionals in Gwangju and establishing a nationwide Christian medical network.”
Through events like this, EMAK and SLS continue to engage with critical societal issues, fostering greater unity and purpose among Christian medical professionals in Korea.
