On October 17, 2025, the Saint Luke Society Brazil (SLS Brazil) held a Dedication Service in celebration of the inauguration and consecration of its first Mission Centre in Brazil. With worship, prayer and heartfelt recognition of God’s faithfulness, participants praised the Lord for guiding every step of the missionary work in the country.
The service was led by Dr Thamara Durán, General Secretary of Saint Luke Society Latin, and the opening prayer was offered by local leader Raquel Magalhães. Worship was led by Brazilian mission leader Rachel Fillipis, and intercessory prayer by local leader Thiago Silva. The sermon, delivered by Gabriel Acosta, was based on Isaiah 56:6-8 and carried the theme “A House of Prayer for All Peoples.”
Pastor Acosta delivered a profound and inspiring message, reminding the congregation that God’s presence is the highest treasure. He emphasized that while every profession serves a purpose, none can compare to the privilege of serving the Lord. He noted that God not only equips his people to care for physical needs, but also calls them to a deeper purpose — to nurture the inner life of people, which can only be restored through the Word and presence of God.
He further emphasized that the Mission Centre is to be a holy place where people can truly experience God’s presence and undergo spiritual transformation. Drawing from Matthew 21:12, he recalled when Jesus cleansed the temple and reminded the congregation that the true temple is the human heart — the place where God desires to dwell. With words full of wisdom, he reflected on Christ’s sacrifice, his resurrection and the gift of the Holy Spirit — God’s abiding presence with us today. He concluded by emphasising that the greatest aim of the Mission Centre is not simply Bible studies, but encounters with the Holy Spirit and genuine life-transformation.
The service concluded with participants, both in-person and online, singing a song of thanksgiving and dedicating the moment to God’s glory. Pastor Acosta offered the apostolic blessing, and everyone came together for a commemorative photo to mark the beginning of a new chapter for SLS Brazil. The in-person attendees then shared a time of koinonia, celebrating the special occasion together.
This service stood as a living expression of God’s mercy — the God who hears his people’s prayers and includes them in his redemptive work. SLS Brazil invites all to pray for this new Mission Centre: that many students and visitors might be reached by the Word of God. May the Lord raise up local leaders, filled with the Holy Spirit, who carry God’s presence wherever it is needed, so that lives may be transformed by the power of the Gospel.
