On Saturday, May 31, the Healing Hands volunteer team of Saint Luke Society (SLS) successfully conducted a free medical outreach at the Han Kyung-Jik Memorial Hall of Soongsil University in Seoul, serving university students and local residents.

This outreach was the first in a while to take place in the Seoul area. Despite initial concerns, the site was bustling with many patients who came to receive care. Student volunteers from Healing Hands took to the streets near Soongsil University to promote the event on foot, while the active participation and independent promotion by Soongsil University students further contributed to the steady influx of visitors.

The medical outreach included booths for internal medicine, dentistry, traditional Korean medicine, and pharmacy. Seven professional medical personnel volunteered to offer health consultations and basic medical services. Basic health screening services such as body composition analysis (InBody), blood pressure checks, and vital sign assessments were also provided, offering more comprehensive health insights to the attendees.

One of the participating medical professionals, currently working at the National Medical Center, shared, “I had been searching for a trustworthy organization to regularly donate medical supplies to. Through Healing Hands, I found a wonderful opportunity and am truly grateful.” Another medical volunteer remarked, “I was concerned that my specialized field might not be helpful here, but I felt deeply fulfilled while consulting with patients. I would gladly recommend Healing Hands to my colleagues.”

The participating medical staff also praised the system of the Healing Hands outreach. “Compared to other volunteer organizations, the system here is well-organized, allowing us medical professionals to focus solely on patient care,” they commented unanimously.

A representative from Saint Luke Society stated, “It was very meaningful to be able to conduct a medical outreach on a university campus in the heart of Seoul. We are thankful to be able to connect more young people and medical professionals, and to open a pathway for the gospel through medical service.”

SLS plans to continue expanding its medical outreach and ministry activities across university campuses, local communities, and underserved populations.
